The Landrover-esque lights had always been a problem. The soft plastic of the bulb holder and the engine heat meant the bulbs didn’t fit properly and I was never truly happy with it. You can get metal bulb holder Landrover lights but they are difficult to find and usually overpriced.
I managed to crack one of the lenses so took a trip to a Landrover dealership nearby to get another one. Landrover changed the design of the lenses so the lens is bonded to the body and the bulb holder bayonets into the back of the lens assembly with the lamp. The whole lot is made of glass reinforced plastic and metal and on the whole was a lot better made.
The lens holder was a little larger than the original so I needed to open up the hole, which was easy with a dremel (should have bought one during the build)
